Why CyberSafeHome exists
There is plenty of cybersecurity information for businesses and technology professionals. There is also a great deal of online content designed primarily to sell security products.
CyberSafeHome was created because straightforward, genuinely helpful guidance for individuals and families can be much harder to find.
Our aim is to explain online scams, account security and connected-home technology without unnecessary jargon, fear or judgement. The core guidance is free so that people can use it themselves or share it with somebody they care about.
The experience behind CyberSafeHome
CyberSafeHome was founded by Steve Foster, a cybersecurity professional with more than 20 years of industry experience.
The idea was shaped by more than professional experience. Steve is also a parent, a son helping older relatives, and the person friends and family often approach when technology becomes confusing or something online does not feel right.
Those conversations revealed an important gap. Advice written for security specialists rarely answers the questions families actually ask:
- Is this message genuine?
- What should I do now?
- How can I help Mum or Dad?
- Are my children safe online?
- Is my home Wi-Fi properly protected?
- Can this be explained without making me feel foolish?
CyberSafeHome turns professional cybersecurity knowledge into calm, practical steps that ordinary people can use.

CyberSafeHome is not intended to be about one person. As it develops, other experienced contributors and specialists may help produce or review its guidance.
