Three good places to begin
For adults who want a complete introduction
The Open University’s Introduction to cyber security: stay safe online is a free introductory course covering threats, passwords, malware, networks and identity theft. It takes approximately 24 hours. You can begin without registering, while a free account lets you track progress and work towards an optional completion statement or badge.
For people building basic digital confidence
Learn My Way’s Safety and security online material uses straightforward language for people developing basic digital skills, including safer online activity and avoiding scams.
For families with children aged 9–11
Digital Matters from Internet Matters uses interactive stories and quizzes to help children make safer choices online. It also provides supporting material for parents and teachers.
How we choose resources
We look for established providers, useful plain-language material, clear information about registration and genuine free access. CyberSafeHome does not receive payment for the initial links in this directory.
External providers apply their own privacy and cookie policies. We do not embed their courses or send them your personal information simply because you visit the CyberSafeHome training page.
We will expand the directory carefully and review the links regularly. If you know of a useful free course that deserves consideration, please contact us.
